Know Your Lumens From Your Lemons

LED signs and billboards, along with almost all LED products are getting more popular by the day. LED displays have quickly become an important part of modern life and the future of the LED display market is very bright (pun intended!) due to its unique characteristics. High brightness, lower power consumption, and longer lasting are few traits that give LED displays an edge over LCD screens.

Brightness, measured in lumens, is the striking difference between an indoor display and an outdoor display. Lumens is a general term describing light output. For example, the TV in your living room probably outputs max 250-500 lumens. Have you ever moved your TV into the garden to watch a World Cup match only to find out that it’s REALLY hard to see anything because of the sun? Chances are the screen was washed out with sunlight and you had to move it back indoors. Outdoor LED displays are designed to be viewed in direct sunlight and typically provide in excess of 8000 lumens. Indoor LED displays provide approx 2000 lumens - several times more than a standard LCD display which is more than enough to give LED the edge with a vibrant eye-catching picture.

So remember, all displays aren’t equal and neither are all LED displays. Know your lumens so you don’t buy a lemon! Blazin Digital will always keep you right and make sure you purchase the correct LED display to best suit your needs.

LED displays can be used in a wide range of applications - billboards, stadiums, schools, offices, conference halls, restaurants and retail outlets to name a few.
